Welcome to this week’s story, ranging in length from 100 words to 500 words.
With each story we hope to deliver a little whimsy into the lives of our readers.
DRAGON DREAMS
Before he saw the creature, Jack honestly believed what he’d been told: that there were no dragons. He crept forward, staring at the moving limbs, the opalesque shimmer of scale over muscle. As Jack’s jaw fell, the dragon widened his mouth, revealing rows of serrated teeth. Jack backed away in terror. In haste to get away, he tripped over his own feet, tumbling onto the waiting sword. Too late he saw the dragon’s body pierced and flailing. Too late he saw the mirror’s glass, understood what had happened. Too late, he thought, as the victorious knight yanked the weapon free.
